Some of the most expensive domain names in history

Domain names can be worth millions of dollars. Especially .com domain names are sold at high prices. But are there any good ones left?

Selling domain names can be good business. As you can see from the list on the right, these are some of the most expensive domain names sold. Most of them are sold by private people to companies or organizations around the world. However it is not just the .com domain names that are being sold for high prices. Onlinecasino.eu was sold for 35,000 euro beginning of July. Also .dk domain names have reached sky high prices. Already this year, approx. 19,000 .dk domains have changed owner. It is especially domain names containing sex, poker, cars or stocks that are the most popular domain names to sell.

Many hits, high price
If you wish to buy one of the popular .dk domain names you must be willing to pay a high price. Nevertheless, .dk is still much cheaper than .com. Some of the most expensive .dk domains up for sale now are webpages that are not active but still attract a considerable amount of traffic like www.ejendomsvurdering.dk. This page had around 40,000 hits last year even though the site is not being used.

Happy hunting
On the 1 July there were over 700,000 .dk domain names registered. This year more than 55,000 new .dk domain names have been registered according to DK Hostmaster, the administrator of .dk. It is hard to find good domain names that are not already taken at this point, especially if you want a .com domain name. But if you are lucky and creative you might still find a good name under the new TLD .eu, which is not taken.
